DI Lands Development Contract for CVS Location

CVS Pharmacy recently awarded the development contract for its newest Texas location to Derrick Interests. Construction will soon begin at the southwest corner of Garth Road and Birdsong, in Baytown, Texas.

Although Mr. Derrick has developed a number of free-standing, built-to-suit pharmacy locations for both Eckerd Drugs and Walgreen’s over the past few years, this is the first such location for CVS Pharmacy. As described on their website (www.cvs.com), “CVS is America’s #1 pharmacy, dispensing prescriptions in more stores than any other retailer in the nation. We have a strong history of growth at CVS, making swift, steady progress since becoming a public company in 1996. Then, we had annual sales of $5 billion. Today, sales are $22 billion. Then, we had 1,400 stores in 14 states and the District of Columbia. Today, we rank #1 in store count with almost 4,200 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.

At this time, the store is expected to open by November of 2002.

Houston's Hottest Comic Stores Joins Bay Area Square

Most of us, at one time or another, have been exposed to superheroes, science fiction and fantasy….and loved every minute of it! Comics that we couldn’t wait to purchase for 25¢, and TV shows such as Star Trek or Dark Shadows that we followed episode by episode—all integral parts of that magical thing we call our “inner child”.

For Richard Evans, owner of Bedrock City Comics, reaching that “inner child” is as easy as going to work each day. Bedrock City Comics is one of Houston’s best sources for new and collectible comics, science fiction, horror, graphic novels, figurines, original art, and even supplies for a multitude of role-playing and fantasy games.

From Aquaman to Wonder Woman , and all things in between, Bedrock City offers an amazing collection of imagination and artistry. Just browsing the plethora of animated characters and dark artists is enough to make anyone’s eyes sparkle with that childlike quality.

Richard recently opened his third store at our Bay Area Square Shopping Center, and couldn’t have had more perfect timing. Amidst a renewed clamor for Spiderman and Star Wars paraphernalia, business at Bay Area is already booming!

We welcome Richard Evans and the entire staff of Bedrock City Comics to our Center, and hope that you’ll stop by the store for a super fun experience.  Or check them out on the web at www.bedrockcity.com!

Trade Center Occupancy Rate Steadily Increasing

When Wes Miller returned to Derrick Interests in October 2001 as Vice President of Leasing, Jessamine Trade Center, our office/warehouse facility in the Bellaire area, was only 47% occupied. With a little advertising and a lot of devotion over the past six months, Wes has steadily increased that occupancy rate to nearly 62%.

The Center houses many different types of small business contractors and distributors, including A/C repair, screen printing, landscaping, plumbing, vending machines supply, and even ambulance and wrecker services.

We’re happy to add All Day Towing, The Lawn Mower Crew, Cut-N-Edge Lawn Services, and Rainbow Plumbing to our Jessamine Trade Center Tenant List.

Jessamine Trade Center, located at 6020 Jessamine, offers units sizes of 980, 1,080 and 1,240 square feet. Most units include two designated office areas, with the majority of space being warehouse.

There are still spaces available to fill your office or storage needs. For more details click here or call (713) 529-4244 for info.
